Julian Post-Surgery Update

Julian is back in daycare today – feeling chipper! He still has the steri strips on his eye (see some photos below) and we have an appointment on Monday with the plastic surgeon to check in.   His ears are doing fine – that surgery was a breeze.  New tubes aren’t painful and you just have to put in drops for a few days after the surgery.

I am curious as to how his eye surgery ‘came out’. I don’t think his eyes will ever look truly even, but from what I can see his lower eyelid skin does look a lot more pulled up now and I hope it ‘stays’ this time! (he had this surgery done once already in October 2011 and his stitch inside his eye fell out and the skin dropped again).

Julian is really growing up before our eyes.  Just in the past month he started independently walking, sleeping in his big boy toddler bed (more like a cot) and going occasionally on the potty.

He has started to get better at walking on uneven surfaces like grass and driveway/walkways, and squat and pick things up and carry them around and bring them to us.  He is opening drawers and getting into everything. He likes to put things underneath the couch a lot now too. He also frequently gets into the toilet paper roll and LOVES to flush the toilet. We have to tell him – one time, thank you! All done! And he signs “thank you” as he walks away happily and toddles away from the toilet after waving “bye bye” to flushed toilet.

Here are some photos of Julian this morning brushing his teeth in the bathroom with dad. He likes to look at himself in the mirror and he laughs a lot.  He also does this with a little mirror we got for our kitchen fridge that is at his level near the ground. He “talks” to the mirror a lot and laughs and squats up and down, shakes his musical instruments and just entertains himself and has a grand old time.

My little boy is officially no longer a baby….Ah!!! he will ALWAYS be my baby boy of course, but can’t believe that he is growing up so fast.
